666

What is 666?

It is the number of the beast, which is the number of a man.

The beast referred to in this verse is the papacy and the head of the papal army is the Bishop of Rome. The man referred to in this verse is Satan himself, for it is written: " How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!... They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms" Isaiah 14:12,16. The Roman army is named after Satan's army. For it is written: "And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many." Mark 5:9.
All popes, presidents, and nation leaders come and go, but the man Satan is here to lead his army to the very end of this Great Controversy between Christ and His Angels and Satan and His Angels.

The first 6th-day battle. (a literal Day)
On the 6th day of the week before God rested from the work of Creation, Satan instigated the first war in heaven and was defeated. Here is the study: https://www.tm91studies.com/apostasy

The second 6th-day battle. (a literal Day)
On the 6th day of the week before Christ rested from the work of Redemption, Satan lost the second war he instigated, and lost all access to heaven which he gained after tempting Adam to sin. For it is written: "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Revelation 12:12.
The third 6th-day battle. (a day with the Lord)

To angels as well as to men were given a period of probation: for angels it was 6 days, and for men it is 6,000 years. When Christ died on the cross in the year A.D. 31, it marked the first 4,000 years (2/3rd) since the entrance of sin in this world, with 2,000 more years (1/3rd) remaining. For it is written: "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein." Zechariah 13:7-8. Another example where the cross of Calvary marks the breaking point in the 6,000 years is here: "Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight." Hosea 6:1-2.

Before we proceed further, let us take a look at the following 3 Sabbaths: First, on the seventh-day (a literal day) of the week, Christ rested from the work of Creation. Second, on the seventh-day (a literal day) of the week, Christ rested from the work of Redemption in the sepulchre of Joseph. Third, on the seventh-day (a day with the Lord) of the week, we shall live and reign with Christ for 1,000 years where Christ rests from the work of Salvation (sanctification). Consider the following verses:

1) 2 Peter 3:9
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

2) Revelation 20:4
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

3) Hosea 6:2
After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

The third 6th-day battle is also known as the battle of that great day of God Almighty which will take place in Armageddon. The preparation of this battle takes place before Jesus' second coming but will not end until AFTER the saints lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
Another way to phrase this timeline is that Satan will be defeated at the end of 6,000 years of causing men to sin, which will take place after the resurrection of the wicked at the end of the thousand years. Consider the followings verses:

1) Revelation 20:3
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

* "a little season" refers to the time Christ cut short in returning to the earth before 6,000 years is fully expired

2) Revelation 20:7-9
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

3) Isaiah 66:24
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
