Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:32
A question that arises from the above commandment is, should we rise up before the pope? Pharisees? wicked men? Is this a unconditional commandment?
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. Proverbs 16:31
The hoary head is a crown of glory ONLY IF it be found in the way of righteousness.
Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. Proverbs 17:6
Men with grandchildren wears a crown of glory.
To give an example, the pope is not found in the way of righteousness, he has no children nor grandchildren. Therefore, he wears a crown of shame instead of honor. Even though he is old, he is not the "hoary head" mentioned in Leviticus 19:32 and we shall not rise up before him.
