The Third Angel’s Message Study (July 29, 2026)

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand.” Revelation 14:9

  • What does it mean to receive the mark? We shall consider the following 2 verses.

    Proverbs 19:20

    Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

    • Many hear counsel but do not receive instruction. Many sit through sermons, read scriptures, partake in Bibles studies, but do not obey the word of the Lord. Likewise, to receive the mark of the beast, one is to obey the beast and his image. This is not passive, it is active co-operation with Satanic powers.

    Mark 4:20

    And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

    • In the parable of the sower, only one class received the seed. The other three classes: the wayside class, stony ground class & and the thorny class all did not “receive” the seed. Likewise, the opposite is true in regard to the “receiving” of the mark of the beast. Satan also is a sower, for inspiration says: “the enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way” Matthew 13:25. Those that receive the mark of the beast are tares, they were never wheat to begin with. A thing to note here is that a wheat does not ever change into a tare, nor does a tare ever change into a wheat. A wheat may be choked by the love of the world, it may be choked by persecution, it may be plucked away by a bird, but it was never a tare. Both the wheat and the tare “grow together until the harvest”.

“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb” Revelation 14:10

  • Throughout history, the wrath of God came upon many wicked. For example: Sodom & Gomorrah, destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and Mount Vesuvius erupting on the city of Pompeii. But the wrath of God was never been poured out without mixture, without mercy. The seven last plagues brings the wrath of God without mercy upon those that receive the mark of the beast. This “tare” class of people are the most wicked the world has ever seen, worse than Tiberius Caesar, Adolf Hitler, Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis Khan, Jeffery Epstein, Lindsey Graham etc… Because the tare class have not shown mercy in their life, therefore they will not receive mercy.

Consider another parable that depicts the 2 classes of the third angel’s message: the 144,000 & those that receive the mark of the beast.

Matthew 13:47-50

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just. And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

  • Both the good fish & the bad fish mentioned here lived until till the end of the world. Similar to the wheat and the tare that lived until harvest time.

  • Both the parable of the tares and that of the net plainly teach that there is no time when all the wicked will turn to God. The wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest. The good and the bad fish are together drawn ashore for a final separation. Again, these parables teach that there is to be no probation after the judgment. When the work of the gospel is completed, there immediately follows the separation between the good and the evil, and the destiny of each class is forever fixed.” {COL 123}

There will be wheat and tare that die out before the harvest, just as there are good fish and bad fish dying out in the ocean every day. But these wheat, tare and fish are not what the parables are referring to. The parable of the net only refers to those fish that are caught in the net. And the parable of the wheat and tare only concerns those that the angels separate at the harvest time.
