“For ever” means as long as there is life. When life ends, for ever ends.
“Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.” Deuteronomy 4:40
Suppose there is no end to for ever, what is the need to prolonging “thy days”
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psalm 23:6
The devil shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and NIGHT for ever and ever.” Revelation 20:10
How long does the devil’s for ever torment last?
As long as his life shall last.
“For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.” Malachi 4:1
“neither root nor branch” means complete annihilation.
As long as night shall last.
“And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.” Revelation 21:25
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun...” Revelation 22:
