What is heaven?

There are 2 types of heaven: 1. the heaven 2. the heaven of heavens.

Deuteronomy 10:14 "Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is."

1 Kings 8:27 "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?"

• The heaven of heavens is where God and His angels dwell. When Christ prayed: "my Father which art in heaven", he is referring to type 2 - "the heaven of heavens".

God created type 1 - "the heaven" on day 2 of the creation week. For it is written: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1)

• This heaven, God created out of nothing on the second day of the creation week when He said "Let there be a firmament...and God called the firmament Heaven" (Genesis 1:6,8)

• This heaven contains the suns, moons, and stars. We know this because God said, "let there be lights in the firmament..." (Genesis 1:14)

• This heaven contains Sun, Moon, Planets, Birds. (Gen 1:16,20, Isaiah 13:10, 2 Kings 23:5)
  

This one SINGULAR firmament which He called Heaven is being shared with countless stars, it then became what is known as the "heavens". One body of water is called "water", when that one body of water splits up it becomes "waters".

For it is written: "Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea." Job 9:7-8

There are THREE FORMS of heaven of this world.

It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name. Amos 9:6

• As God divides the heaven into stories, the heaven of this world can also be refer to as heavens. Below are the three forms of the heaven of this world.

1. Before the flood, PAST: "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished." 2 Peter 3:5-6

2. After flood, PRESENT: "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." 2 Peter 3:7

3. After 1000 years, FUTURE "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." 2 Peter 3:13

Conclusion:

There are 2 types of heaven: 1. Sun, moon, stars, birds 2. God dwelling

There are 3 forms of heavens: 1. Before Flood 2. After Flood but before the end of 1000 years 3. After 1000 years

There are numerous quantities of heavens as there are numerous quantities of bodies of water.

Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."
